Healing touch is a much overlooked healing mechanism in our “digital society”. Referring to followers of Christ, Jesus says, they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well. (Mark 16:18)
I can actually remember when physicians routinely touched patients to get a sense of their condition and impart healing. I can also remember lying in that ICU day after day and becoming aware of a loved one’s touch. I needed their touch much more than another IV drip or CT scan. We know from science and Scripture how very important touch is because it is virtually transferring His power from within us. Again, Ephesians 3:20 reminds us: Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work WITHIN us.
Jesus touched anyone in need of healing including lepers, which I believe healed their souls wounded from the lonely isolation of their fear-ridden disease. Of course Jesus knew the power of the healing touch and, as mentioned earlier, admonished us to lay hands on the sick. (If you pray for someone, honor him or her by asking for their permission before laying hands on him or her.) Part of the James Chapter Five “oil service instructions” includes touch. We know, from new insights through quantum mechanics that all of creation is one indivisible dynamic whole in which energy and matter, as Einstein and others described, are so deeply entangled it is impossible to consider them as independent elements. 6
Life processes ignoring this entanglement and the resulting need for loving interaction with each other break basic laws of Creation, and thus our souls are wounded making our bodies targets for “anti-life” forces which exist in the unseen realm (evil). A clear example of this wounding is documented in orphans who go without consistent loving touch in their lives.
What am I suggesting? Well, God is Love and Love heals! I remember a song, “Reach out and touch somebody’s hand. Make this world a better place if you can.” 7 It was sung over and over by the entire ceremony crowd at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. The positive impact of that moment was vibrant against the darkness of the boycott by several countries. Love always wins! Loving touch itself is powerful as Luke 6:19 shares: The whole multitude sought to touch Him (Jesus) for power went out from Him and healed them all.
That same Jesus is alive NOW. Mark 6:56 says: I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore.
Romans 8:11 tells us: If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Hugs, prayers with hands laid on, as well as warm handshakes emit positive healing energy when there is loving intent involved. We have mentioned the quantum power of intent throughout this book. Anyone who has ever fallen in love understands what I am talking about.
Holy Spirit’s power is within us so we have, in our inheritance, a very real healing touch of pure energy enabling what we otherwise could never do. Hug your loved ones and you both will be positively energized. When you hug, place your heart over your loved ones heart with your heads facing over each other’s left shoulders. I have read several places that doing so actually synchronizes the heartbeats of those who are hugging.
electrically charged nutrition and, in it, I believe we will at least glimpse the quantum basis for being “one” with God more physically than we’ve ever dreamed. Check out my latest post on “Fulvic Acids” at www.realhealthhope.com.
